Endangered species!

Hey every one I hope you have been having a good time over a couple months!  I know I did. so today I'm here to talk about the endangered species. But the biggest animal I'm here to talk about is the Crested black Macaque [monkey.]

This spring a big number has dropped. The population of each group has gone from 14,463 to a small number I can't describe! But I can tell you one thing slowly there population is slowly increasing. You know how? Two very smart groups came together and have taught a couple schools about these these animals. One of the groups had to leave, hoping that the Crested black Macaque would increase its population even more till next time! Maya

Pre Colby wedding golf by Bryan

Great, breezy fall weather. Chilly mornings and warm by noon. Tree's starting to change. No one in front of us, noone behind.

October 19th: colby, rob vohs, dad and I. Rob wins the day (17 points). Colby a miserable 5. Dad and I go out and play 15 more after the foursome.

October 20th: bryan, jim, neal, woody, steve s, jerry harshaw skins game. I played terribly on 16 holes, however playing well on 2 holes helped me fill my wallet before leaving...:)

Two find memories:
1.) Dad's hearing aid battery-almost-dead sound rings in his ear in a backswing. He manages to clear the creek on four regardless. glad he didn't have a heart attack.

2.) Everyone is egging me on to blast a drive at the club's assitant manager's cart. I swing 205 MPH, don't get the face closed and spray a huge drive in the pond up the hill to the right. Woody, who'd lead the committee for hitting the assitant manager, steps in and yells. "Damn little breck, I said hit him, but he's not in a boat."

Shots I remeber from the two rounds: Long putt down the slope on 11 for birdie in skins game. Drive on first hole in skins game (up to 30 yards out). Pick-up pitches from 30 and 95 with new vokey wedges. Big bending 7 iron around trees on left and up the hill to back of 9 green.

Sister Jane the golfer

Jane is seen here smiling for the camera and looking over her putt for a birdie on # 5 at the Cliff Park Golf Course in PA. She went on to make the putt and a birdie 2. She has a natural swing that is beautiful to watch. Vikki and I and lots of relatives went to the wedding of Jane's partner's daughter in the Poconos. Golf at our Hotel every day was an unexpected pleasure!

Gillespie Humor- Shank of all Shanks- April 22, 2007

The SHANKof all SHANKS! [True story]
Written in e-mail by Bruce Gillespie to all his buds on April 22nd.

Yesterday, saturday morning, Schulze took me over to Falcon Valley for a round of golf. For those of you who may not know, this is a 9 hole layout, a beautiful course. It was a great morning with us teeing off at around 8:00. We wistled around the first time in an hour and a half seeing no other golfers. Schulze, being the very generious guy he is, gives me 3 on the front and 2 on the back. He shoots 43 and me a 46, but we finished even for the nine. We then tee off the second time to start the nine holes over again, the weather is great and the play has been fast. However, after finishing No. 1. we drive to No. 2. A foursome is just finishing their tee shots at this nice little par 3. As we were waiting and thinking how slow the second nine will play, the grounds keeper shows up and visits with Schulze, Bob worked there a couple of years ago. At this time, two young men drive up. Schulze's friend says these two fellows are brothers of the golf course owner, Dean Ralston. They are down from Minnisota for a long weekend of Baseball and Golf. Knowing how slow it will be, we invite the two young men to join us. They appear to be in their late 20's or early 30's. We then introduced ourselves to each other. The oldest is Doug and the younger is named DJ. I'm thinking, these guys are probably pretty good players, NOT! Now I don't want to sound snoby, especially with my game. This story is a little long, but stick with me, I promise you, it will be worth the read, I'll try and speed it up. Schulze and I hit our tee shots onto the green and watch as Doug and DJ hit. After what seems to be an eternity, we finish the hole. Poor DJ, over the remaing 7 holes, I bet he lost a dozen balls, I'm not shitting a bit, and 8 or 10 for Doug. At one point, Schulze is laughing so hard I had to nudge him to tone it down. After all, we both were this bad at one time, me most recently at Sycamore Ridge. Faster Bruce, OK, on our last hole, this being their ninth we all hit our tee shots. Schulze, Doug and I have hit our second shots and are watching DJ address his ball for the 4th or 5th time to our left.. By this time, Schulze and I have learned to stay well back and off to the side of these two young men as thy hit, both really nice guys, but a little dangerous. Picture this, there are two Geese about 20 feet in front of our cart. DJ takes his club back and hits a laser, rocket grounding SHANK directly in front of our cart striking the first Goose high on the neck close to the head, no shit! The second goose flys like an F-14 striaght into the lake 10 yards to our right. The poor SOB that took the hit was squalking and hissing as it lifted striaght up, twisting and turning like a hellicopter out of control. The impact must have JACKED UP the Gooses's bowels as it starts spewing SHIT out of it's ass EVERYWHERE!!! As it reached an altitude of about 15 feet, it then banked left toward poor DJ. I thought it was going to attact him shit flying and everything! DJ ran toward his cart as fast as he could with his right hand holding his golf club and his left arm over his head to protect himself from all the flying shit and possible danger. The Goose flew directly over DJ and landed softly into the lake next to it's buddy. It did not appear to be fatally wounded, but badly shaken up. This boys, was the SHANK of all SHANKS! After we all finished laughing profusely we finished the hole. We shook hands with Doug and DJ wishing them GOOD LUCK! on their second nine. I did notice Doug and DJ getting more balls from his brother Dean at the turn. Hopefully he was not arrested by a Game Warden before returning to Minnisota! THE END.
PS, I lost $2.00 on the 2nd nine. As I paid
"BIG HEARTED" Schulze he said "5 is too many strokes for you" There is something WRONG with this picture.

Bryan Golf Marathon Weekend

  • Friday: Relaxed and ate burgers. Bryan remembered his new irons, but not his spikes.
  • Saturday: We played 54 today. Vikki stayed with Maya. All rounds were in the low to mid 40's. Played with woody, bruce, bryan, john, kim...round after round after round. The sun stayed away. Some light showers. Gillespie wins MVP. The guy was a machine. Kept his 18 in the mid to high eighties by hitting almost every shot pure.
  • Sunday am: We played 18 with Doug Bowes and Rob (Alicia Knox's husband). Hand blisters for Bryan kept him in the high 80's. Worst woods work in Bryan's summer (by far). We had lots of laughs. Mainly from Jim's displays of sarcastic anger... "Damit....Shiiiiiit", he yells at top volume to get a hard belly laugh out of Bryan. Doug had a 78 (one of the ugliest on record...3 bird's on the front mixed in with 7(s)...:).
